Children’s Online Privacy Notice
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Draft. This document is a working template. It has not been reviewed by legal counsel and should not be relied on as a final agreement before launch.
1.Who this notice is for
Bloom Academy is designed for high schoolers, generally age 13 and older. This notice explains what we do when a student is under 13, in compliance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
2.We don't accept under-13 sign-ups directly
A student under 13 cannot sign up for a Bloom Academy account on their own. Sign-up is available only to:
- Students aged 13 or older, registering for themselves, and
- Parents or legal guardians registering on behalf of a student.
By checking the terms box at sign-up, a parent affirms that they are the legal guardian and that they consent to Bloom Academy collecting and using the data described below for the purpose of delivering tutoring to their child.
3.What we collect for under-13 students
When a parent registers a student under 13, we collect:
- The parent’s name and email address (the account contact).
- The student’s first name (used by the tutor during sessions).
- Payment information processed by a PCI-DSS Level 1 payment processor.
- The student’s booking history and session recordings.
We do not collect the student’s home address, phone number, social-media identifiers, precise location, or any persistent identifier for advertising purposes.
4.How we use it
Strictly to deliver tutoring sessions, send confirmations and reminders to the parent, process payments, and improve the service. We do not share under-13 student data with third parties for any purpose other than the operational vendors described in our Privacy Policy, and only the minimum required for each to do its job.
5.Parental rights
As the parent or legal guardian, you can at any time:
- Review the data we’ve collected about your child.
- Request that we correct or delete it.
- Refuse further collection and close the account.
Closing the account is effective immediately; data deletion is completed within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements for payment records.
6.No advertising or profiling
Bloom Academy does not run advertising, behavioural profiling, or third-party analytics on under-13 students. The product is paid; we have no incentive to collect anything we don’t need.
7.Recordings
Session recordings of under-13 students are kept for the same 30-day window as for older students, available to the parent account, and then automatically deleted. Recordings are never used for marketing, training third-party AI, or shared outside Bloom Academy.
